02/ Grapes

Let each grape bring the terroir in its interior

The sun, the rain, the soil of the vineyard that vintage… all deeply imprinted in each cluster.

The grapes of each year, different in their essence, are hand-picked and carefully selected so that only the best are transformed into our wines.

GRENACHE

Grenache comes from Spain and is a late, sunny and sweet variety, resulting in soft, elegant wines with good acidity, generally with a fino bouquet and lots of red and black fruit flavors . Red wines matured in barrel not only retain these characteristics, but mature in barrel to become softer, with balsamic and toasty flavors . The average age of the vines in the region is 50 years, which adds to the charm of their maturity, making the Grenache very concentrated in sugar and producing grapes with moderate acidity that are both sweet and impressive.

TEMPRANILLO

Tempranillo is known as the jewel of Spain, the most famous and widespread variety par excellence that occupies an exclusive place for its unique small fruit style, early ripening, thick skin and extremely expressive terroir, so it is no exaggeration to say that it is the jewel of Spain. Tempranillo produces wines with predominantly red fruit aromas, as well as caramel, licorice and a purplish-red color, with notes of animal skins, leather and mushrooms that develop after barrel aging. Most of the Ribera del Júcar vines are between 30 and 80 years old, which allows the roots of the grapes to take deep root, allowing them to shed their greenness and imprinting each of their characteristics on the grapes . This makes them unique and of strong character, like a solo dancer on stage, graceful, elegant and attractive.

MONASTRELL

One of the three great Spanish varieties, Monastrell is a very old variety that has been dominant in the Yecla region since Phoenician times and is the best of all the Spanish appellations. The clusters are small and very compact, with thick skins, producing a purple or dark cherry red color, with a high alcohol content, a very attractive aroma of sweet ripe berries, a smooth and warm flavor, a chocolaty glycerin sensation and a distinctive aroma of grafito . More than 60% of the Monastrell vines in Yecla are over 70 years old and do not need rootstocks, with the oldest being over 120 years old. Monastrell is characterized as a low-yielding variety, especially from old vines, producing only 4-5 bunches of fruit per vine and often up to 2 old vines are necessary to produce a 750 ml bottle of wine, resulting in a wine of excellent quality and round structure.
